You are not above the law, Raila warned
President William Ruto has warned Azimio leader Raila Odinga that no one was above the laws of the land nor the Constitution.
The Head of State reminded the opposition Chief that all Kenyans were equal under the law and would be treated in equal measures should he attempt to cause mayhem .
Ruto who spoke at a thanks giving service at Kirubia stadium in Tharaka-Nithi County early today also wondered what Odinga was up after trying all avenues possible to challenge the President’s August 9 last year win but in vain .
“This country is greater than any one of us and its security of the citizenry and their property is therefore paramount. We are not going to take intimidations and threats lying down and I dare the Azimio brigade to bring it on,”Ruto told hundreds of worshipers present .
The president also repeated his earlier stand that there was no room for a handshake in his Kenya Kwanza administration and those with aspirations to lead the country should hold their horses and try their luck during the 2027 general elections.
Accompanied by his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua , the President further explained why his administration had abandoned the subsidy route the previous government had adopted since it was corruption ridden.
“The former regime greatly abused the subsidy of goods and commodities leading to a few individuals enriching themselves under the guise of cushioning Kenyans from the skyrocketing prices of goods and services . My administration has completely blocked this mode of running and sustaining a government in favour of doing this our own way and style and transparently ,”he said.
He said it was unfortunate that Odinga who has tried many times to aced to the presidency but always miscalculates his moves only to start crying foul over his own mistakes .
“But let me caution and warn him that should he cause any mayhem or chaos , under the guise of speaking for the people such moves will be dealt with in accordance with the law of the land and the constitution,” Ruto warned.
During the service Ruto announced his administration was set to establish four dams with the upper zone of the county whose water would be run on gravity and alleviate the perennial water shortage within the lower zone of Tharaka-Nithi .
“The construction of the four proposed dams and other mini ones along the four rivers in the constituency should begin within the cause of the year once we are through with annual budged, while the mini dams and water pans will assist the locals to trap as much water as possible for use during times like these , “he promised .
At the same time , Ruto has announced Chuka referral hospital , Chogoria hospital and Komarock hospital situated at the County headquarters in Kathwana have been elevated to Level Five facilities the locals much required for proper health services.
Ruto also told the worshippers that his government has put in place a program to have industrial parks in each of the 47 counties where farm produce from those areas will be value added before export in order to bring into the country the much need foreign exchange .
“This way the farm produce which include Macadamia nuts, korosho ,ground nuts ,coffee tea etc will guarantee the farmers good returns from their labour unlike today when middle men and cartels have exploited and dominated the sectors ,”he said.
He directed that some 100 acres be hived from Tharaka University to give room for the construction of the proposed industrial park
Area Governor Muthomi Njuki and his Meru counterpart Kawira Mwangaza were in attendance as well as the entire political leadership from the county .
The county has the upper zone which has tea coffee and other cash crops while the lower zone falls under Arid and Semi-Arid areas (ASAL), hence worst hit by the current draught .
