The much hyped reinstatement of 72 health workers by the Kirinyaga County administration was just a PR gimmick to hoodwink  the voters , affected medics have claimed .

The medics alleged the said 72 workers were reinstated way back in 2019 and not this month as insinuated by the area governor .

At a press briefing held at the Starwood Gardens near Kerugoya town , the affected medics  vowed to push for governor Waiguru’s  ouster from the area leadership come the August 9 general elections for allegedly causing them miseries in their lives.

Through the branch secretary of the Kenya Clinical Officers Union Alice Njeri Wanjohi , the medics  said they have embarked  on a massive campaign to ensure Waiguru does not get a second term .

“Waiguru  has  remained adamant and disobedient  to numerous orders from the  Public Service Commission and the Employment and Labour Court to get our sacked members back to their jobs  and since its now just about three weeks to the polls , she will see  how powerful the people’s  court is ,”the trade unionist  warned .

She recalled how her two colleagues had suffered depression after the sacking while others were languishing in abject poverty yet the employer continued to live a posh life.

Other than the 72 employees the official added there were 359 more medics who range from Nursing Officers , Clinical Officers and  Lab technologists who were sacked by the governor and were yet to be reinstated .

“If you quantify all these affected sacked employees, their dependants the three years they have been without salaries , then you can understand the intensity  of our continued sufferings , “  she added.

Added the victims “ it’s aluta continua until Waiguru gets out of the way while the incoming county boss should  ensure the matter was settled immediately he or she was sworn into office .
