The Supreme Court of Kenya has made  history  after it upheld Dr William Ruto’s win in the August 9 presidential elections .

In a summary of the judgement read by the Chief Justice  and Supreme Court President Martha Koome all the nine grounds  the petitioners had raised  were dismissed for lack of merit and ground .

The petitioners were the Azimio presidential candidate  Raila Odinga and his running mate  Martha Karua .

In one of the dismissed affidavits was that of lawyer Julie Soweto which the seven judge bench dismissed as hot air.

Koome  read the judgment which lasted close to about two hours as her  colleagues listened and followed keenly .

There were jubilations within various parts of the country as Kenyans celebrated the development .

But in an immediate  reaction Azimio lead  counsel James Orengo said he did not agree the outcome  of the petition .

The court also dismissed assertion that the four dissenting IEBC Commissioners had been sidelined by its Chairman Wafula Chebukati .

“This court has not found any truth in  claims by the petitioners that the four IEBC had been sidelined during  the tallying at the Bomas of Kenya since they were being shown on various national television stations reading  the results as they were being received and verified until after a fracas occurred  when they sneaked out and   addressed the press at the Serena hotel disowning the results ,”Koome said in the water tight  judgment.

Consequently Ruto’s win and that of his running mate Rigathi Gachagua were upheld by the highest  court on land  while the two will now be sworn in as President  and Deputy president respectively next Tuesday (sept 13) at Kasarani national stadium  between 10 am and  1 pm .

As the matter stands now it’s the end of Azimio since under  the constitution no further litigation can  take place after the pronouncement of  today’s supreme court .
