The Mt Kenya Yes Pastors Forum has urged the electorate avoid being  swayed to vote along  political parties but rather go for personalities .

The Forum said  past voting history  had shown that those who have been elected while riding on  party euphoria  ended up being the worst leaders.

Led by their chairman  Archbishop  Dr  Daniel Njagi  , the Forum said  Kenyans were no longer   interested  by the six piece voting  pattern .

The Forum which held a special prayer meeting for the local Woman Representative Anne Wangeci Githinji at a Kerugoya hotel this morning, urged  the electorate   to think seriously if they were making the right choice before ticking the ballot paper on Tuesday.

“As a Forum we are in support of Githinji’s candidature since her track record in well-known having served as the first County Assembly Speaker in our county, “the Cleric said.

Njagi added that the county does not require having a leader imposed on its people as has been witnessed from various politicians who keep bringing their favorite candidates whom the electorate had never even hear of or   seen before.

“We are putting   politicians and political parties that time when they imposed elective leaders on the people of Kirinyaga is long gone since   our people  have the capacity  to  choose and decide whom their leaders should  be,”Njagi stressed.

Githinji is running for the seat as an independent candidate, while Shujaa Rose Wachira  is  her rival on a Jubilee ticket as is  Njeri Maina of the UDA.

The outgoing County Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici is not defending  her seat since she  opted to vie for the local gubernatorial position  as an independent  candidate after she was allegedly short changed by the UDA in favour of her rival and incumbent Anne Waiguru .
