
Kangaita road to be rehabilitated

The road leading to Kangaita tea factory in Kirinyaga County is among others the National government is constructing in the area .
The road according to the Kirinyaga Central MP Munene Wambugu had been neglected for a long time despite its economic significance to the locals who are tea farmers .
He said after devolution , the road fell under the area County Government which abandoned it all through resulting to the sorry state it is now in .
“I have done a lot of work to have this very important road not only to the local but national economy be taken over from the county government for management and today (yesterday) I feel very proud that the PS Infrastructure has brought a contractor to start off the project i,”Wambugu said.
Infrastructure PS Professor Mwangi Maringa who was present said since Jubilee Administration came to power in 2013 , Kirinyaga County which had only 53 kilometers of tarmac since Independence has now 653 kms.

“Out of the 653 kms ( worth sh 23 billion ) , 225 kms worth Sh 9.2 billion are in Kirinyaga Central Constituency which is almost now fully covered by tarmac just as the other constituencies will start seeing soon, “Maringa said.
The two leaders were speaking at Kamuruana hills along where the road in question passes through to the area tea factory .
Added Maringa “ With the contractor on the ground and having already started his work , very soon the project will be completed and God willing I will be right back here to officially open it for public use ,”.
Maringa however said were it not for Wambugu being on the right side , this would not have been possible .
He said it was always good for leaders to support the government of the day through which such projects were funded.

The PS added that those who have constantly oppose anything the government initiates regardless of how positively such an initiative impacted on the people.
He urged locals to be wary of prophets of doom especially those going sweet talking voters while they have nothing to offer expect empty political rhetoric .
