Mithamo wa Susana the KTDA's Zone Five Chairman briefing the media after launching a one day free medical camp for tea farmers within Kiangai section of Kirinyaga County yesterday
Tea Farmers from Kiangai section in Kirinyaga County have benefited from a free medical camp the KTDA had sponsored.
The came in the wake of an outbreak of various treatable ailments mostly related to long exposure to cold while farmers pick the green tea.
An Agency Director for Zone Five Mithamo wa Susana who had organised the camp said the affected farmers were unable to carry out their duties with the required efficiency .
He said the same farmers were finding it difficult to go for medication at the existing public health facilities which are far away from them and ill equipped .
“Due to various shortcomings within the public health facilities especially lack of drugs and other related necessities , as an Agency that depends on tea farmers we have found it fit to organise this free medical camp where they are examined and issued with the drugs they required,”wa Susana said.
He said save for those complicated ailments which required specialized treatment, all others were instantly attended to and drugs supplied for free .
A section of the farmers interviewed during the medical camp held at the Kaingai PCEA church grounds hailed the Agency for showing care and concern about their health .
Mary Muthoni said since it has become almost impossible to get any medication at the area county government hospitals , the alternative provided by the Agency was a welcome move .
