A man from Nyangati village ,Kirinyaga County who impersonated a detective has been arraigned before a Kerugoya court over the alleged offence .
Daniel Maina James who was unrepresented however denied the two criminal counts he faced when he appeared before the local Senior Resident Magistrate Grace Kirugumi this morning .
He was charged that on between June and July last year within Kerugoya township he obtained Sh 115,000 from Peter Gathiu by falsely pretending that he was going to offer him employment .
James who was unrepresented also faced a second count of impersonating a sleuth with sole intent to defraud .
The count stated that on the material dates between June and July last years with intent to defraud falsely pretended to the members of the public that he was the in charge Directorate of Criminal Investigations at the Keugoya office .
A 21 year old girl who had been arrested alongside the accused on last Friday at dawn at an Estate in Kerugoya town has been released after investigation officers failed to link her with any evidence related to the matter at hand .
The accused was however released on Sh 200,000 bond and a surety of same amount until his case will come up for a further mention on January 18.
The local DCI told the court more charges were likely to be preferred after owners of the documents recovered from the house of the accused were established .
Some of the documents recovered included KCSE certificates, copies of national identity cards, copies of letters of allotment for the National Irrigation Board and copies of tittle deeds .
