Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has given hope to two desperate orphans   whose admission to University had been dashed.

Samuel Comba and Antony Muriuki from Kavote village , Kirinyaga County  who are twins have been admitted to Maseno and Moi Universities respectively.

Muriuki had been scheduled to report to Moi University on Monday this week but failed to so due to the state of poverty their grandmother faces.

The two were schooling at their nearby Kavote Mixed Day Secondary where their 65 year old grandmother gave all she could to see them through.

The 23 year old twins scored B+ each during last year’s KCSE examination despite having dropped from school for three years earlier on due to lack of school fees .

Comba has  been  enlisted to pursue a  degree  in  Information Technology while the brother will study for a Bachelor of Education and Arts Degree .

The governor learnt of the orphan’s plight when she visited the area yesterday from a local leader .

Just before distributing  sport kits to an area football  group Waiguru was informed that the residents were unhappy that  there were two orphans in their midst  who could not report to their respective universities due to lack pf school fees.

The orphans who were paraded before the governor were later asked by Waiguru  to report to her Kutus town office this morning for details and modalities on how to  be assisted  to get  to college .

She promised in front of the  cheering gathering that she will undertake to pay for their education until  completion of their four year courses.

The boys later told this reporter they could not believe that luck had come knocking and thanked God for miraculously bringing   Waiguru to their home village where she learnt of their plight .

“We shall forever be grateful to Waiguru for her good gesture and we promise her that we shall endeavor to concentrate and  pass their finals examinations , come out well endowed with knowledge and one day be able to assist others who could be in  predicaments like our ,” said Comba as he shed tears of joy over  the unexpected development .
