County receives an assortment of drugs and medicines

The Kirinyaga County Government has received an assortment of drugs and medicines from KEMSA worth Sh 38 million .
The drugs which were received by Governor Anne Waiguru who later flagged the convoy of trucks transporting the commodity will be supplied to all area health facilities.
Waiguru however decried the slow pace at which KEMSA takes to deliver the drugs despite having received orders and payment on time .
The governor said she understands the high demand of the drugs since KEMSA was the only institution mandated to supply the commodity to the devolved units.
She also said the county was ready to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations and urged the locals to accord the visitors maximum cooperation.
“I would want to take this opportunity to tender my sincere thanks to the National Celebrations Committee for according her county the honor to host the fete .
“This being the last Mashujaa Day celebrations under the Jubilee administration , it is historic in nature and I thank the organisers for their efforts to make it successful ,”she said .
The governor will also be hosting a dinner at the Roswan Hotel in Kerugoya town in honor of the heroes and heroines who will be honored tomorrow at the fete .
The KEMSA Regional Sales and Marketing Officer Beatrice Kingori blamed the delay in supplying drugs on order due to various factors which affect the process .
She however assured the customers of improved service delivery of such drugs but urged the counties to ensure they paid their dues on time .
The local county health facilities have been doing without essential drugs due to delayed release of funds by the Treasury occasioning hue and cry from the residents .
